Research Tips
By Jeannette
Bible records are
still a splendid source of data for genealogist. The key is finding them. Cousins, aunts, grandparents and other
relatives have old family bibles stashed away with their keepsakes. Other than that, we are fortunate to have
genealogist and historical societies who make projects out of collecting
them. Here are some sources:
1. DAR collection at the Georgia State
Archives; scattered throughout their individual county books.
2.
Folder & Microfilm Collections,
3.
Magazine publications of historical and genealogical societies found in
regional libraries. Also, Family Puzzler
Magazine.
My own personal
collection came from individual researchers.
copies. I published all of them in the following books, or CDs: (also on
the website, for subscribers)-AlabamaBibles;GeorgiaBibles; Georgia Bible Records Supplement;
NC-SC Bibles; Virginia Bibles

About
the website
www.pioneers.com is the preservation of 40-years’ of genealogical
research by profess-
ional
genealogist, Jeannette Holland Austin,. It contains hundreds of traced
genealogies, records., and extensive Notes. You will want to see its collection
of obituaries (1740-1935), births,
marriages,
civil war deaths, bible records, school graduates and photos, orphans,
genealogies, lunatics, and more.
“This site would be free for everyone, if I had my
way,” says jeannette. “However, a nominal subscription price has been set to
pay for website maintenance. There is no profit in genealogy. It is a labor of love.”
