This park played a major role in the old history of the city. It was constructed in Atlanta's second oldest neighborhood (called Grant Park). Initially the park featured a pond used for row boats on Sunday afternoons, an arcade adjoining a large swimming pool, and a cyclorama.
The Cyclorama is a mural painted in oils of the historic view of Atlanta and the railroad during the Battle of Atlanta. (1864) The cyclorama and civil war museum was opened in 1893 and the mural is displayed on a regular basis to the public.
Located in historic Grant Park, next to the Zoo.
