Obituaries

Abstracts from The Marietta Journal 1875-1876, 1879.

Probate Records

- Legal Advertising - Cobb County, Cherokee County, Milton County, Paulding County and Pickens County
Few of Cobb County's early court house records survived Sherman's blaze. To help provide additional information, I have extracted "Legal Advertising" from The Marietta Daily Journal from September 1869 through December 31, 1873. The Legal Advertising provides dates pertinent to estates. Administrators and Executors were usually appointed several days after the death of the deceased. Guardians were appointed for children under 14 years of age. Administrator's and Executor's Sales included Lot numbers, districts, etc. Please note that these newspapers were very difficult to read, therefore, names, lot numbers and other details could easily contain errors. The Marietta Journal published a few obituaries and marriages from Cobb, Cherokee and Paulding Counties. However, names of heirs were omitted.
