It was not mandatory that marriage records be recorded in the State of Georgia until 1919. However, notices of
marriages and engagements were broadly scattered throughout old newspapers (The designation "n" maans that it came from a
newspaper record. This is an alphabetical listing of
brides and grooms, by each county

preserved over a 40-year period. It contains traced genealogies, probate records, confederate deaths,
revolutionary war pensions, cemeteries, obituaries, marriages, census, cherokees, births,
school graduates, etc.
